Time Lapse of Venice

Here's some great time lapse video shot by Joerg Niggli in Venice.  The way it's shot the people and boats look like toy models.... this has an extremely peculiar transe like effect, though it's fun to watch.

Capturing the Beauty of our World - Louie Shwartzberg

Here's a man whose life has been devoted to capturing the beauty in the world around us and sharing it via time lapse photography on film.  Louie Shwartzberg's ten minute appearance talking about Gratitude is quite remarkable - he shows lots of film clips at this excerpt from his TED talk, and mighty inspirational.

"Let the gratefulness overflow into blessing all around you."  May not sound like much, but once you see it in context to the film below, you will understand.  Take 9 minutes from your day today to watch this video and see our world in a new way.  It's worth it friends.

Phillips Andover Song - Student Rap Video - Not Just a Stepping Stone

Here's a music video written & created by the senior Class of 2012 at Phillips Andover School (PAS).  School administration did not sanction the project.  According to one former grad, there was some concern amongst the administration that the video might not be well received, but it has been out there for over eight months with no backdrafts (the video was posted on YouTube on 7/28/11)

Overall the students the students did a bang up job writing a catchy, contemporary rap song and shooting some with solid, steady camera shots, but I am not so sure about the authenticity of some of the teachers 'rapping' - still kudos to those teachers for giving it the old college try. As of March 28, 2012 the song had 175k+ hits on YouTube.  Pretty good.

The song says, "Some say PA, is only for diploma day," but that's not the story the song the song goes on to tell us.  It's about a whole lot more.

Could this work as an admissions video?  Probably.  The kids are being honest.  Does it hurt the school?  I don't see it unless you think the teachers are not as professorial as you might expect at a top drawer school like Phillips Andover.   Still, it's fun, creative, positive and it offers a different approach to talking about a school, from the kids POV.  It also shows how talented the PAS grads are.   It's the students POV and isn't that what we all seek when we are trying to tell a story?

Yowza! New PETA Campaign: BWVAKTBOOM

Here's a very strange, albeit intriguing, campaign from PETA.  The announcer tells us that a roughed up, pantsless girl who is traipsing up a street with a neckbrace on is suffering from a new condition called BWVAKTBOOM - Boyfriend Went Vegan and Knocked the Bottom Out of Me.  It's an eye opener.  She's got a little smirk on her face as she tosses a bag of veggies at her b'friend as she enters their apartment.  Crazy stuff.  I guess it makes sense if you think it might promote vegans and not meat eaters?  As they say on FOX you decide.

Zowee!  This one below is even more explicit.

And one more.....   I think it's going to get a lot of ink in the press.
