Caine's Arcade - Moving Short

Here's a sweet short film that I spotted on CNN about a nine year old's love of old fashioned game arcades and how he built his own great one.  Hang in there, it starts slow, but it has a wonderful surprise ending.  Watch Caine's face.  That's a happy boy. The video has gone viral.

The deweymedia team can make a film about something that moves you in your life.

A Man and his Goose and Japan's Four Legged Forgotten

Here's a sweet CBS News story about the special - and quite odd - bond between Dominick, an LA retiree, and a Touloise goose named Maria.  Nice story telling that tugs at the heart strings.  Animal stories do that.

Here's a sad CNN News piece about the animals left behind in the Fukishima evacuation zone.  If this doesn't make you tear up...

NO Impact Man + woman. A no impact documentary.

Is it possible to live in the city of bright lights and late nights (NYC) while having no environmental impact on the planet?  This year-long experiment is what the new documentary No Impact Man is all about.  This is the story of the Beaven family's odyssey.  Michele Conlin was my classmate at Columbia Journalism School and a colleague at CNN Financial News.   Today she's a columnist for Business Week and a great mom.  Here's her take on the No Impact Project which her husband Colin cooked up - Michele C on going No Impact.

The movie is beautifully shot, and thoughtfully crafted by filmmaker Laura Gabbert.

Smart PR, Great Cause

Now this is smart PR for Malaria, for Twitter, for CNN and for Ashton Kucher.  The piece is a follow-on to the competition between Kucher and CNN to get 1M followers on Twitter.  The piece itself is simple and powerful.  Great graphics, great music and NO announcer.  The title cards were really well designed.  This is a beautiful effort for a great CAUSE and everyone involved in this one was a winner.  Sure wish I made it!
